THE STATE OF PLOY – REVIVAL OF SIGNWRITING?
There’s plenty of work for everyone in London so they chide with not the slightest conviction – the difference though is new, fairly inexperienced writers namely (signwriting)Jack Hollands and Matt Odrobny are ripping down the value of signwriting and working for 30-40% below the skills range of wages senior signwriters like myself have worked hard to establish.
Therein lies a total ass biting lack of respect for the heritage of the craft.
That de-values the art of the writer and the correct money established artists with families need to earn. In the medium term they will knock their nuts off for the wrong money look around and re-ramp their prices. They will want to expand and grow – they will need to cost these specialist works properly.
This shortsighted short term hit is the new virus…
